Dr. Santosh Gill Fox Valley Heart Fund
The Dr. Santosh Gill Fox Valley Heart Fund was founded back in 2004 to help men and women from every racial and socio-economic background overcome the unique challenges and barriers they face to living heart-healthy lives.
The fund supports multiple initiatives including:
- Rush Copley's Outpatient Diabetes Education Program which educates over 240 uninsured and underinsured patients each year to successfully manage their diabetes through one-on-one counseling and education.
- An annual Heart Disease Survivor Walk that creates awareness for and celebrates heart health in our community.
- Four AEDs donated annually to local churches and nonprofits that could not otherwise afford one.
- Weight scales for heart failure patients who are discharged and have limited means to purchase their own scale as regular and accurate monitoring is essential to help self-manage their condition and avoid re-hospitalization.
- Community CPR Classes hosted quarterly, these classes provide CPR certification in English and Spanish at no cost to participants.
